Whatever you see on your iPhone or Android device, you’ll see on your iDrive screen, whether that’s Google Maps or Waze for navigation, Netflix or Spotify for entertainment, or even your favorite news or weather apps. Using your BMW’s dashboard display means seeing your apps on the big screen, right where you need them, without the. Make sure you have the BMW Connect app installed on the phone and of course the Spotify app. Pair the phone to the car and after a few seconds, a green 'Spotify' option appears under media. Each time I get in the car the phone automatically connects and I can choose Spotify as a media option.

About four or five updates ago, the Spotify Android App would work with my BMW ConnedDrive Apps, since that point each subsequent update has not restored the functionality. There is a thread on the Spotify Community about this issue (started by someone else) and unfortunately it was marked as solved, but it was not solved, just that someone. Additionally, BMW Connected for Android only shared a very limited selection of apps, compared to the available apps on iPhone: only Spotify and iHeartRadio, along with a basic Calendar app. Since I enjoy other music apps, I called up BMW Support and asked if I could get access to the BMW Ready SDK so I could build my own apps.

If your aux or USB cable isn't working, make sure it's the correct cable for your device. Even if it is, it's worth trying a different one in case it's damaged.
If you’re connecting via USB cable, make sure your car’s media system is updated to the latest firmware version.
